This is the story of the “King of Naples,” Mario Merola, as told through testimonies, archival materials, and the recollections of his loved ones and admirers. A traditional genre icon, Merola starred in numerous films during the 1970s and 1980s. A man of the people, he became a symbol of Naples thanks to his talent and unique personality, bringing Neapolitan song and culture to the world.
